Commercial Analyst
About the role
We’re looking for a Commercial Analyst to deliver high-quality reporting, analysis, and insight to support business performance and decision-making. Working closely with Finance and operational teams, you’ll provide visibility on margins, sales trends, labour, stock, and ROI across the business.
This is a highly commercial role suited to someone analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple functions in a fast-paced environment. You’ll play a key part in improving reporting, supporting financial discipline, and driving data-led decisions.
What you'll do
Commercial Performance & Business Partnering
Own and deliver commercial reporting across wholesale, ecommerce, and retail channels
Partner with Sales, Ecommerce, Operations, and Finance to drive performance and support strategic initiatives
Provide clear insight on trading performance, highlighting risks and opportunities
Wholesale Performance (Primary Focus)
Analyse customer, product, and channel profitability
Monitor pricing, terms, and contract performance
Support financial modelling for new opportunities and partnerships
Improve visibility of wholesale KPIs and sales performance
Ecommerce & Subscription
Track key metrics including revenue, acquisition, retention, and customer value
Analyse customer behaviour and campaign performance
Support pricing and promotional decisions
Operational & Margin Analysis
Monitor gross margin, cost drivers, and stock performance
Identify opportunities to improve profitability and cost control
Support labour and overhead analysis where required
Forecasting & Reporting
Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and financial models
Prepare business cases and ROI analysis for key initiatives
Systems & Improvement
Enhance reporting, data quality, and BI capabilities
Drive automation and improve access to commercial data
Who you are
Commercially minded and curious, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working with data and challenging assumptions constructively.
Collaborative, practical, and keen to support continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
Previous experience in an analytical, commercial finance, FP&A, or management accounting role.
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
Ability to interpret data accurately and translate it into clear commercial insight.
Experience producing regular reporting and performance analysis.
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Desirable
Part-qualified CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
Experience in retail, hospitality, manufacturing, FMCG, or food and beverage.
Experience using reporting systems, BI tools, or ERP platforms.
A strong interest in commercial performance and operational improvement.
What success looks like
Drive Improvement in EBITDA Margin
Identifies and delivers opportunities to improve profitability across wholesale, ecommerce, and retail channels.
Provides analysis and recommendations that support sustainable growth in EBITDA margin through pricing, product mix, cost control, and operational efficiency.
Partners with stakeholders to track and measure the financial impact of improvement initiatives.
Commercial Insight Drives Better Decisions
Delivers actionable analysis across wholesale, ecommerce, and retail channels that improves revenue, margin, and profitability.
Provides meaningful insight into customer, product, channel, and pricing performance, supporting strategic and operational decision-making.
Produces robust business cases and ROI analysis for key initiatives and investments.
Improved Visibility, Efficiency & Data Quality
Enhances reporting processes, automation, and data quality to reduce manual effort and improve accessibility of commercial information.
Develops and maintains KPI dashboards that provide clear visibility of business performance.
Acts as a trusted business partner to Sales, Ecommerce, Operations, and Finance teams, driving a data-led culture across the business.
