Barista Trainer (Cornwall)
About the Role
As Origin enters a new phase of growth in mid-Cornwall, we’re investing in our Roastery and expanding across the business.
As a Barista Trainer, you’ll help raise the bar for coffee quality across our omni-channel business. You’ll deliver SCA-accredited courses, coach and mentor baristas, and shape how our teams learn and develop, from first-day foundations to advanced skills. Whether you’re running sessions in our training space or working alongside hospitality partners on site, you’ll play a key role in building capability, consistency, and confidence while strengthening the coffee community that defines Origin.
What you'll do
Barista Training & Development
Deliver Foundation, Intermediate, and Professional-level training in Barista Skills, Sensory, Brewing, and Technical at Origin’s training locations for both wholesale and retail baristas.
Conduct monthly SCA educational sessions and guide participants through certification programs.
Mentor baristas, encouraging them to develop their craft and pursue competitions.
Provide on-site coaching to wholesale customers to ensure their teams maintain exceptional coffee quality.
Support the delivery of Origin’s Home Enthusiast courses, mentoring baristas to become confident, capable, and ready to deliver them independently.
Support Wholesale Managers in coffee tastings to reinforce quality consistency.
Coffee Quality & Standards
Conduct quality control checks at Origin’s retail sites to ensure high brewing standards.
Collaborate with retail teams to enhance brewing techniques and customer experience.
Curate seasonal feature coffee recipes, inspiring home brewers and wholesale partners.
Coffee Competitions & Industry Engagement
Coach and support baristas preparing for industry competitions.
Organise internal competitions to nurture talent and celebrate excellence.
Events, Tastings & Community Engagement
Plan and host coffee events at customer locations and the roastery.
Lead roastery tours, introducing visitors to Origin’s ethos and craft.
Partner with the Education Manager, Director of Coffee and other Origin coffee professionals to deliver monthly tasting sessions for wholesale and retail partners.
Conduct coffee tastings for retail and hospitality clients.
Please note: this role will include occasional evening and weekend commitments.
What You’ll Bring
Skills & Behaviours
Proven experience delivering structured barista training.
SCA qualifications and hands-on experience with the SCA curriculum.
Head Barista-level background, with a passion for education and mentorship.
Strong communication and coaching abilities.
Commercial awareness and quality-driven mindset.

Please note: Origin will begin relocating its Roastery production and HQ in early 2026, moving from Porthleven to a new site near Truro and Perranporth, just off the A30. We encourage applicants to keep this in mind when applying. This role will relocate to our mid-Cornwall Roastery in the second half of 2026.
