Purpose of the Role
The Education Manager is critical in shaping the future of speciality coffee education at Origin. You will lead the development and delivery of training programmes for wholesale, retail, and home enthusiast customers, ensuring that every touchpoint reflects our provenance, seasonality, and transparency values.
As the custodian of Origin’s educational excellence, you will:
- Lead Origin’s education programme to cultivate deep customer loyalty and strengthen brand affinity.
- Align training strategies with business goals, industry trends, and our mission to elevate coffee expertise.
- Drive a culture of learning, innovation, and quality in every coffee experience.
- Manage and develop a team of Barista Trainers.

What You’ll Do
Training & Development
- Lead and oversee all SCA-accredited training, ensuring exceptional delivery across wholesale, retail, and home enthusiast programmes.
- Design and implement engaging training programmes on brewing techniques, equipment maintenance, and customer service excellence.
- Develop high-quality training content that embodies Origin’s standards, values, and brand voice.
- Deliver immersive and engaging courses for home enthusiasts, strengthening customer connections and brand loyalty.
- Support wholesale and retail teams with continuous education, driving performance, consistency, and excellence.
- Monitor and review trainer performance, providing feedback and coaching to deliver best-in-class training.
Collaboration & Events
- Partner with wholesale, retail, marketing, and e-commerce teams to align training initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Represent Origin as a brand ambassador at industry events, strengthening relationships within the speciality coffee community.
- Work with internal teams to create innovative educational events engaging customers, partners, and stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Barista Trainers, fostering a culture of professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement targeted development plans to keep trainers at the forefront of coffee education.
- Champion a collaborative and innovative team culture where knowledge sharing and creativity thrive.
- Work closely with Freda Yuan, Director of Coffee, to continuously refine and elevate Origin’s education and training programme, setting industry benchmarks and ensuring our approach remains best in class.
- Infuse Origin’s expertise in sensory and quality excellence into training methodologies, inspiring trainers and learners alike to push the boundaries of coffee knowledge.
Quality Assurance & Performance Monitoring
- Ensure consistency and excellence in training through performance tracking, feedback, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee on-site quality assurance, ensuring training standards are consistently upheld across all locations and aligned with Origin’s commitment to excellence.
- Maintain detailed, data-driven records of training outcomes, using insights to optimise programmes.
- Leverage CRM and training management systems to track learner progress, engagement, and feedback, enhancing customer retention and strengthening relationships.
- Use data-driven insights to tailor education initiatives, ensuring they remain impactful, relevant, and aligned with customer needs.
- Uphold Origin’s values of honesty, transparency, and excellence, ensuring training reflects our commitment to exceptional coffee experiences.

Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in leading and managing education programmes within speciality coffee, hospitality, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, capable of prioritising, problem-solving, and delivering results.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Deep knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- A strong network within the coffee or hospitality industries is a plus and something you’ll naturally tap into.
The salary is £35,000 - £40,000 DOE. You can discuss this in more detail during the interview if you meet the application criteria.
